Sell gold and donate money to charity

A few months ago, there was a huge fair at the sports hall in our city. It was part of a large project launched by two non-profit organisations. The aim was to raise money for children from low-income families. It was a special kind of fair. You could sell gold jewellery, coins, scrap gold and even bullion bars and donate money so that some poor children would be able to spend their summer holiday in the Himalayas. Those children had never been on holiday before so the non-profit organisations were going to show them something really extraordinary. During the trip, they would climb some of the mountains and get to know the local culture. A lot of people visited the fair. Most of them wanted to sell scrap gold: broken necklaces, chain, earrings and pendants. But there were also some investors who came there to sell gold in forms of bullion coins or even bars. The fair was a very interesting event. There was a presentation given by a famous mountaineer who showed us some really interesting photographs of the Himalayas. A sum of 2,000 pounds was raised on that day. It was not much, of course, compared to the needs, but as a said, it is a large project and the organisations are still gaining money in some other ways, too.
